Saturday, October 30, 1999 The excursion to Browns Springs was a good one. It had rained off and on all morning. But just before 2:00pm the rained stopped. It did not start in again for 45 minutes, giving everyone time to see the Springs and cemetery. A total of 15 souls (including 2 year old Alex) braved the dreary afternoon to make the venture. We had no more got into the cemetery proper and there was an axe embedded in a tree with blood and some kind of meat attached. This really got everyone's attention. Next we found another axe with blood, then a knife on top of a tombstone in blood, then a grim reaper curved type sycle implanted in a tree. Needless to say the 45 minutes there was full of suspense, and then the rain started and we were all ready to leave. Up the steep path to the top of the hill, there were a couple of places where the mud got kind of deep and slick, but we all made it to the top. So it is advisable to wear rubber boots.
