ENOS -- Services for Fred D. Shipley, 85, were Saturday at the Enos Baptist Church with Max Clark, R.T. Brundige and Sherri Moore officiating.

Interment was at Russett Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Shipley died July 24, 1997, in the Madill hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1911, at Miller, to Harvey and Lula Shipley. Reared in Johnston County, he married Ruby Dillard Sept. 15, 1934, at Tishomingo, and lived in Marshall County more than 50 years before moving to the Enos area 35 years ago.

He was employed by American Flyers at Gene Autry eight years and was custodian in the Madill Public Schools 20 years. He was a founding member and deacon of Enos Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Freda Crozier, Marietta, and Reba Myers, Jenks; adopted son, Jimmy Reese, Burleson, Texas; a sister, Alice Morgan, Madill; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deloris Shipley; 10 brothers and sisters.

Bearers were J.B. Pruitt, Wayne Easley, Ralph Boswell, William Macon, Lee, Martin and Leo Arnold. Honorary bearers were Donald Weaver, Alton Moss, Harold O'Steen, Earl Hill, Melvin Kaney, Marion Danner, Aaron Dry, Rod Fitz, Tony Mosier, Lloyd and Ronald Ellis.
