Daily Ardmoreite Funeral services for Elizabeth Mary "Liz" Andrews Chapman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church in Ardmore with Rick Mills officiating and the Rev. Arlen Fowler assisting. Elizabeth Klinger will arrange the music. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Elizabeth was born Jan. 31, 1937, at Rockland St. Mary, Norwich, Norfolk, England, to the late Edward James Andrews and Helen Emma Teresa Bailey Andrews. She passed away Tuesday morning Sept. 18, 2001, in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 64 years. Reared on a farm in England, Liz attended Rockland St. Mary Primary School for two years and Norwich High School for Girls for 11 years. She then attended Bedford College of Physical Education for three years. While at Bedford she played on the All-England Women's Lacrosse Team, participating in international competitions. Liz taught physical education several years at Runton High School for Girls in Cromer, Norfolk, and at Bedgebury Park School for Girls in Kent, England. She married William C. "Bill" Chapman on July 4, 1964, at Rockland St. Mary, Norfolk, England, and moved to the United States to settle in Madill, Okla. Liz was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived her life with her family as the centerpiece and then shared her extra time with her community. Never one to complain, but instead to focus on the needs of others, she devoted time to the Fran Drummond Day Care Center in Madill where she had been a member of the board since 1979, serving as past president and currently as treasurer. She was a devoted mother and supporter of the Madill Booster Club, Marshall County 4-H and Madill FFA. She was also active in Ardmore in the Ladies of the Leaf Literary Club, Holly Garden Club and the Joint Ventures Stock Club. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Ardmore. Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Susan Sutcliffe; and brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Sutcliffe. She is survived by her husband, William C. "Bill," of the home; a daughter, Belinda Helen Chapman of Ardmore; sons, Ian Bruce Chapman and wife, Jill, of Russett, Colin Andrew Chapman of Washington, D.C., and Edward Scott Chapman of Chicago; grandsons, Luke and Lane Chapman of Russett; a brother, John Andrews and wife, Margaret, of England; a brother-in-law, Fred A. Chapman Jr. and wife, Joan, of Ardmore; nieces and nephews, Emma and Sophie and James of England, Katherine and Sarah of England and Ruth, Elise and Eric of Ardmore; a cousin, Michael Andrews of England; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. Bearers will be Keith Long, Bryant Watts, Chris Bradshaw, Dan Little, Bob Drake, Herschel Beard, Don Yeager and Tom Dunlap. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Fran Drummond Day Care, P.O. Box 247, Madill, OK. 73446. Family hour will be from 6 to 7 tonight at Watts Funeral Home.
