| From Chickasaw Genealogy Museum Russett Main Street
This photo was found in the Chickasaw Genealogy Museum in Tishomingo. It was written on as "Possibly Russett". Ora Mae (Brown) Boyer, a member of the first Russett High School graduating class (class of 1933) says she doesn't recognize any of the people but it is definitely the main street of Russett in frontier days. Russett Items from October 22, 1914 Capital Democrat This newspaper clipping from an October 22, 1914 issue of the Capital Democrat was also found at the Chickasaw Genealogy Museum in Tishomingo. Evidently Russett had a column in this weekly paper. Click on the image to view it enlarged. Note that evidently cotton was a very popular crop around Russett. The cotton gin was located just north of the church between the church and the railroad tracks. |
