| | Welcome to the website dedicated to the Russett community located in Johnston county in southern Oklahoma. Russett, once a bustling frontier town located in the Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory, transitioned over time to a farming community of mostly sharecroppers during the dark days of the depression and then to one of the "former" places in Oklahoma. A lot of good people grew up here, dirt poor, working hard to survive the depression and the dustbowl of the thirties and forties but went on to live successful and prosperous lives. Many became college graduates and went on to be Corporate Executives, College Professors, Lawyers, Engineers, Computer Scientists, School Teachers and Other Professionals while others became the backbone of society with careers in firefighting, law enforcement, military service, etc. You'll find their stories on this Website.
The goal of this website is to become a repository of information about this community and the many fine people who lived, worked and raised their children in hard times.
