Below is Lasley’s Grocery Store at 501 East Main in Ardmore.

Below is Pennington Grocery. It was located in the S.E. corner of East Main and A Street SE. After Pennington’s it was a cold storage building and later a C. R. Anthony department store. J. D. Armstrong, manager of the new Anthony chain department store opened here the first of September 1925, arriving in Ardmore to superintend the remodel and furnishing of the building.

Below is a clipping of Ardmoreite Enoch Watterson when he was in the Marines. He would later become Sheriff of Carter County 1953-1959.

From This Weeks Mailbag
Someone asked me this week if I had any videos of Sheriff Bill Noland. He said someone told him I did. Will, I sure do, from over 20 years ago a friend sent me. I’ve uploaded the 5 videos to my Google OneDrive account. Anyone with the link below can watch the videos.

The Tech Corner
I bet I’ve tried a couple dozen backup programs for my computers the past 44 years. I’ve tried paid programs and Free ones. I’ve always been a stickler for backing up my computers. I can’t afford to lose it all including the 29,000 photos I’ve collected over the decades. I’ve found one I’m 100% satisfied with. Its completely free for home use. So easy to install and run, only asked one question at the beginning, “where to backup to”. In my case, my external hard drive plugged into a USB port (Drive F:>). Check it out at the link below.

My Surfshark VPN recently added a new feature. You can select what websites from 8 categories will be blocked as you surf the Internet. Helps keep those websites away from your browser and computer or phone.

I’ve been using Surfshark since April and so glad I have it protecting my 3 computers, 2 cellphones, and Smart TV, all for about $2.50 a month. You can check it out at the link below.

Ham Radio
Allstar Node # 58735 – Echolink Node # 101960 – HAMs Over IP (HOIP) number – 103010
On October 29th I think a record number of HAMs checked into the Boredom Breaker Net located at Claremore, Oklahoma. A total of 84 HAMs from all over the U.S. and even overseas checked in, mostly using Echolink or Allstar on their computer or cellphone. I try to check-in daily between 12 Noon to 2pm Central Time. If you’re a HAM and have not checked it out, I encourage you to do so.

See everyone next week!
